Weekend in Moab

Two weeks ago my parents rented a Jeep and explored the trails of Moab, Utah.  My father has been wanting to do this for years, and absolutely loved it.  He was like a little kid with his own personal playground.  My mother also had fun :). Here are their pictures.

How We Met

In September I met up with a good friend from Lehi, Jessi (the one on the right in the picture above), and some other girls she invited for a fun-filled girls night (there is even a blog post about that night).  One of the girls I met on girls night was Jamie (the one on the left in picture above), and we instantly became friends.  Jessie, Jamie, and I started to do things together every weekend.  During many of our weekend adventures, Jamie would tell me about this guy friend of hers (Jasen) who, she said, would absolutely love me, but she wasn't sure how I would feel about him.

Right after Thanksgiving, I was at Jamie's house asking her which of our guy friends I should take to a work function.  She told me I should take Jasen.  There was no way I was going to take a blind date to a work function. So she then texted Jasen and invited him over so we could meet.  We hit it off great that night and he ended up with my number.  Jamie was right.  He did absolutely love me, and I ended up in love with him :).  Below is a picture of me at the Festival of Trees, only few hours before meeting Jasen.

The Proposal

Sorry, for the lateness of this post.  Being engaged and working over 50 hour weeks, doesn't leave much time for blogging.  February 2 (Ground Hog's Day - I know, how romantic? But at least we will always remember the date) Jasen Bean proposed to me after dating for about 2 months.  The story of how we met is going to have to wait for another post.  But Jasen and I knew we were meant to be with each other forever after only a month and a half (I know, super quick, but it just happened).  We even called the temple, Jordan River, and reserved a sealing room before we had the ring.

Two weeks before the proposal, we began looking at rings. We found this one ring that we both really loved online. But when we went to the store, they didn't have it in stock, so we picked out another ring (not quite as pretty as the one online, but still beautiful). Well, later in the week, the store called Jasen to tell him that they now had the ring that we saw online in stock, so without tell me, Jasen bought the ring that we both absolutely loved.  Jasen told me that he bought a ring and that it was going to take a while (a couple of weeks) for the store to set the stone in the ring setting.

On February 2nd, he picked me up for what I thought was a normal date night (I thought the ring wasn't going to be ready for another week).  We were meeting another couple at the Pie Pizzeria.  On the way to the Pie, I turned to him and asked if he remembered that we went to the Pie for our first date.  He acted totally surprised and was naming off other places that could have been our first date (sneaky him).  We then got to the pizzeria, where the other couple had been saving a table and were waiting for us.  I noticed that we were sitting at the same table as our first date, and, again, Jasen acted surprised.  Now, the unique thing about the Pie is that it is covered in people's graffiti.  The Pie encourages people to write on the walls.  So Jasen had brought a white paint marker and asked where we should write our names on the walls.  I looked around to find the perfect spot, and then, I noticed what Jasen had written on the ceiling above our table before he picked me up.  He then pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him.  I replied yes :).  It was a complete surprise because I thought the proposal wasn't going to happen for another week and the ring he gave me was the one I saw online.  Here are the pictures of the whole proposal.

This is where I see what he wrote and he pulls out the ring.

He puts the ring on my finger

We both look at what he had written

Jasen spent a lot time that week making the wooden ring box from a piece of wood that he had been saving from high school
